Limits other people set for you. You begin to trust yourself in a way you didn't before and that confidence doesn't stay in the gym. It follows you everywhere.

Nobody walks into the gym already knowing what they’re doing. Nobody starts strong (except Chuck Norris). And that’s exactly the point.

I’m Michael Lacroce, a Philadelphia based personal trainer and the owner of Underdog Strength. With 8 years of coaching experience, I’ve worked with hundreds of busy adults across all fitness levels, helping them find their footing, stay consistent with demanding schedules, and build a physical practice that actually fits their life. Whether your goal is to move better, get stronger, stay healthy, or just figure out where to start, we begin where you are and build from there.

My approach is grounded in the fundamentals: biomechanics, strength training, and injury prevention, because the basics work for everyone. I hold certifications with NASM, Pain-Free Performance (PPSC), and Physical Preparation Specialist (CPPS) and I’ve spend years studying how the body moves, breaks down, and bounces back. That knowledge shapes every program I write, whether it’s for someone managing an injury, working around a limitation, running their first 5k, or chasing their first powerlifting total.

The secret isn’t some magic program, it’s relentless consistency. Show up, do the work, and the results follow. My job is to make sure you keep showing up.

You don’t need a perfect background. You don’t need to already be fit. You just need to take that first step — and then the next one. Over time, you’ll push past limits you once thought were fixed and that confidence won’t stay in the gym. It follows you everywhere.
